How we create our content
Clear, compassionate, and clinically reviewed content, when you need it most
Clear, compassionate, and clinically reviewed content, when you need it most
At Pal, we know at-home caregiving can feel isolating. Caregivers often have to make critical decisions, without immediate guidance from a healthcare professional. That’s why we make it our priority to provide medical content that is clear, trustworthy, and easy to understand.
Whether accessed via the Pal app or on our website, our library of resources is drafted, edited, and carefully reviewed by qualified healthcare professionals for accuracy and relevance.
Our content is written and reviewed by an interdisciplinary team of experienced clinicians—doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals—who specialise in palliative, supportive, and frontline care.
For specialised topics such as bowel health or occupational therapy, we consult subject-matter experts to ensure depth and precision. We also collaborate with leading organisations in the field, to include relevant and high-quality educational materials. These partners include trusted names in palliative care and end-of-life care, such as:

We recognise that people consume information in different ways. That’s why we offer content in multiple formats:
All content is designed for use in high-stress situations, they are clear, concise, and easy to follow.
We follow a structured, evidence-informed editorial process. Every piece of content goes through the following steps:
Drafting – Written by clinicians using evidence from trusted institutions like:
Clinical review – Reviewed by at least one other healthcare professional
Accessibility editing – Refined for clarity, simplicity, and readability
Final checks & approval – Proofed and approved before publication
All of our content is created in-house by our clinical team. We don’t syndicate articles or reuse external content. This ensures everything you read is tailored specifically for Pal’s community, people living with serious illness and those caring for them.
Our content is available in English and Dutch, and we tailor it to the realities of caregiving in both languages. Content is translated into Dutch by a medical translator and adapted for the local context in the Netherlands. This includes adjusting phrasing, cultural references, and practical details to ensure the guidance feels relevant and accessible to Dutch families.
🗂️ We keep our content updated regularly to reflect new guidance and best practices.
What sets Pal apart is how we blend clinical knowledge with the real-life realities of caregiving at home. Our content isn’t written in an office far removed from the challenges caregivers face, it’s shaped by professionals who’ve spent years delivering care on the frontlines. Our content is brief, practical, and reflects what people face every day at home. It’s the kind of advice you’d get if your best friend happened to be a palliative care nurse.
All of our contributors have worked closely with families navigating serious illness. They know the small, practical details that make a big difference, how to reposition someone safely in bed, what to say during difficult conversations, or how to spot early signs of discomfort before they escalate.
They don’t just share textbook facts, they pass on the best insider tips they’ve learned over years on the job.
Like Annie, our bowel health specialist, who has a background in Stoma care and an unmatched passion for gut health. (Truly. Every conversation with her somehow circles back to bowels.) Her input turns a sensitive subject into one that feels manageable, normalised, and even empowering.
Or Chelsea, our occupational therapist, who has spent years helping people adapt their homes for comfort and safety. Her tips go beyond grab bars and ramps, she shares what makes a space feel calm, how to support someone’s dignity during personal care, and what really helps in the moment.
And Rosie, a seasoned community palliative care nurse, who brings both clinical expertise and personal caregiving experience. She’s passionate about empowering families with the knowledge they need to spot complications early. Rosie leads a collection of videos that walk caregivers through the subtle signs to look out for, so they can feel more confident and prepared at home.
It’s this mix of clinical accuracy and hard-earned, compassionate know-how that makes Pal’s content different. We design every resource to meet caregivers where they are: at home, often overwhelmed, doing their very best. Our goal is to offer guidance that feels like it came from someone who truly gets it—because it did.
We know firsthand how isolating at-home caregiving can be. Our aim is to provide the resources and knowledge for caregivers and care recipients exactly when they need it. Access to reliable information helps caregivers feel more confident, reduces stress, and leads to better care decisions. We believe every caregiver should have access to expert guidance, at the moment they need it most.
While we often say “caregivers,” our content is written for both care recipients and caregivers. Many of our resources are addressed directly to people receiving care. Our goal is to speak to both audiences with empathy, so no one feels left out or overlooked.
Our content is intended to support—not replace—the guidance of qualified healthcare professionals. If you have any concerns about your own health or someone else’s, we strongly recommend seeking advice from a medical professional.
Our content is completely independent. we don’t run ads or accept sponsored material. You’ll never see content on Pal that’s driven by commercial interests. Every article or video is created with one goal: to support and empower caregivers.
Sometimes, we include links to helpful tools or assistive products. These aren’t ads or promotions, just practical additions to help you find what we’re describing more easily. If we mention a product, it’s because it’s something our clinical team genuinely recommends based on their experience.
Our content is designed to be actionable, but often, it starts after you log a symptom in the Pal app. When you record how you or your loved one is feeling, we guide you to the most relevant content, like an article or short video, so you can understand what’s happening and what to look out for. Whether it’s managing pain, spotting early signs of a symptom, or feeling confident about what’s normal, our resources are there to help you take the next step with clarity.
We believe information is most helpful when it comes at the right time, right when you need it.
We’d love to hear from you.
Is there a topic you’d like us to cover, or something you wish you had clearer guidance on? Let us know. Our content is shaped by real questions from real caregivers, just like you.
