London, 11 October 2025 – Pal’s Clinical Nurse Lead, Rosina Goldsmith, has been awarded the Outstanding Oral Abstract Presentation at this year’s Developing Your Portfolio conference for her talk Enhancing Palliative Care Through Digital Innovation.
The conference brought together clinicians from across the UK who are furthering their careers in clinical practice, research, palliative care and clinical innovation. For Rosina and Pal, it offered a valuable opportunity to meet professionals invested in the future of delivering high quality care across diverse settings.
Rosina’s presentation focused on the role of co-creation and PPIE in developing digital health tools that genuinely meet the needs of patients, families and clinicians. She highlighted how meaningful involvement shapes design decisions, ensures clinical relevance and strengthens trust in new technologies.
Building on this foundation, Rosina introduced how digital tools such as Pal can support community-based palliative care by giving clinicians earlier visibility into changes in patient health and helping enable more proactive decision-making.
“The feedback that I got from the presentation was that it was really, really interesting. It got lots of people’s attention. It felt very clinically relevant and quite innovative,” Rosina said.
Her session prompted a number of discussions with clinicians who were keen to explore collaboration and learn more about Pal’s approach to clinical innovation and the involvement of patients, family members and clinicians in product development.
Across the event there was a growing recognition that digital tools are becoming increasingly important in managing the rising demands on palliative and supportive care services. Rosina’s conversations reinforced how closely Pal’s work aligns with these needs.
“We’re ahead of the game,” she said. “We are developing something that is going to be really worthwhile and really beneficial for a population of patients which need lots of input at the moment and especially with all the current climate of palliative care… this is a tool that could really, really help that in the community.”
Her discussions emphasised that rising complexity, limited resources and the need for timely support are exactly the challenges where digital innovation can make a meaningful contribution.
Receiving the Outstanding Oral Abstract Presentation award was an important moment for Rosina and for Pal’s ongoing work in digital palliative care.
“I was overjoyed to receive the award, still can’t really believe it, but it was really meaningful and worthwhile research,” Rosina shared. “I’m very passionate about this, I think that really came across and my devotion really stood out, and I think that was something that was noted as well by people.”
The entire Pal team is incredibly proud of Rosina’s achievement and grateful for the expertise and dedication she brings to advancing palliative care.
